Hiring a roofer is a lot different than hiring a dog walker. For example, you’ll want to make sure they’re licensed, bonded, and insured, and they understand what it takes to get the job done right—on time—and on budget.

For this blog post, we wanted to discuss the top 4 signs that indicate a roofing contractor is reputable.

They have an online presence

In this day and age, every company has a website. If the roofer you’re talking to is a ghost online, that’s a red flag. Every reputable roofing company in Naples, FL will have a website and at least one social media account, such as Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram.

They have a physical address and they’re not shy about sharing their license #

When you search a company on Google, you’ll want to make sure you can find their address, phone number, and email address.  Does their website list their license number? Does it have a section for client testimonials? In contrast- if you can’t find their physical location, and they change the subject when you ask for their licensing information—run. The latter is a sign that the company may be unlicensed and uninsured.

They’re not going door-to-door to drum up business

Reputable roofing companies don’t need to go door-to-door to solicit clients—nor do they knock their way through a neighborhood to drum up new business.  Why? Because their reputation speaks for itself. When a contractor takes care of its clients, they’re rewarded with repeat business, positive online reviews, and word-of-mouth referrals.

They’re not afraid to put it in writing

Regardless as to whether you’re having your metal roofing, asphalt shingles, or corrugated roofing worked on- your contractor should give you their quote in writing. A reputable company will provide you with a free inspection, repair estimate, and be willing to provide references if needed. They should also provide you with a detailed quote—that has a full breakdown of costs (such as labor and materials). Most quotes / estimates have an expiration date. If the company you’re speaking with is trying to close you with “high-pressure sales tactics” to get you to hire them on the spot (or they’re reluctant to put anything in writing), this probably isn’t a company you want to hire.
